Saliha Nelson: - MSEd
PROFILE Saliha is an experienced non-profit executive director, youth development professional, community coalition builder and trained community psychologist dedicated to addressing pressing social and community problems. Ms. Nelson currently serves as Vice President of URGENT, Inc. a non-profit youth and community development organization dedicated to empowering youth to become agents of change, and volunteers as the Chairwoman of the Overtown Children and Youth Coalition and Vice Chair of the Miami Dade County Public Schools Student Services Advisory Committee. CONSULTING President of Grassroots Changemakers, a business development consulting firm dedicated to empowering change from the bottom up, Saliha specializes in using participatory approaches in strategic planning, leadership training and data development. RECOGNITION Ms. Nelson’s most recent recognition's include induction into the Women’s Fund of Miami Dade Honor Roll, receiving the MCCJ Student Silver Medallion Award for community-based leadership, service and advocacy and selected as s South Florida Freedom’s Sisters by Ford Motor Company Foundation. Saliha is a member of the Society for Community Research and Action, National Afterschool Association and Florida After School Association. EDUCATION Saliha studied at the American University of Cairo, received a Bachelor of Science in Social Policy and Education from Northwestern University and earned a Master's of Education in Community and Social Change from the University of Miami.
